Medium: Newspaper, glue

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the world came to a standstill and we were locked in our homes. Like most people, this gave me time and space to reflect on my surroundings. Being isolated from the fast paced life outside, I began to observe better and appreciate life in my immediate environment. I was grateful to be in a beautiful home surrounded by nature, with cats, dogs and squirrels running around, which made me draw inspiration from their forms and movements.

However, when it came to sourcing material, it was a bit tricky due to their limited availability. Nevertheless, I found an abundance of newspapers. When I ran out of glue, I managed to make some from maida (refined wheat flour). My existing fascination with using newspapers as a medium of expression and with the help of my house staff, resulted in a series of sculptures made entirely of old newspapers.
