2022 -
BLUEPRINT &
BALANCED DUALITY

The work developed through research, experimentation, and shared lived experiences within the team. We worked with discarded materials, fabrics, paper, plastic, and metal, collected locally from tailors and households. Each fragment was carefully sorted by colour and size, and even everyday materials like plastic bags were reimagined, handspun into yarn to extend their lifecycle.

The work draws from the plan and elevation of the building, translating them into a composition of intersecting lines, curves, and angles. Through the use of appliqué and embroidery, I have attempted to echo the layering and materiality inherent in architectural design. The varied textiles come together much like building materials, creating a conversation between structure and surface.

2023 -
BHOOMI

Through the gestural abstraction of the painted canvas, I sought to evoke a sense of warmth, reminiscent of golden horizons. In contrast, I introduced meticulously sculpted brass wires, forming a geometric mosaic that both offsets and complements the organic flow of the brushstrokes beneath.

2024 -
NURTURING ESSENCE

Drawing from the form of Kamadhenu, the composition reflects this idea of sustenance and continuity, with the presence of the calf further reinforcing this bond. The piece became not just a representation, but an interpretation of nurturing as both a visual and emotional experience.

2025 -
FRAGILE BALANCE

Working with a material like aluminium, which is typically perceived as rigid and industrial, I was interested in softening its presence, allowing it to take on a more delicate, almost organic quality. Through this, the work invites a pause, to notice, to reflect, and to reconsider our relationship with the environments we shape and inhabit.

2026 -
TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER

Translating his black and white photographs into tapestries, tea bag paper embroideries, and mini embroidered works allowed me to reimagine them through touch. The tones remain subdued, echoing the mood of his work.

Blueprint is a hand embroidered and appliquéd triptych commissioned for the lobby of a residential building.

Being married to an architect, I have long been surrounded by blueprints of plans, elevations, etc. Over time, these drawings, initially technical and precise, began to reveal a certain rhythm and beauty, shaping my curiosity to reinterpret them through textile.

This piece reflects my ongoing exploration of bridging disciplines, where the measured language of architecture finds expression in the tactile and intuitive world of textile.

Balanced Duality is an artwork that brings together action painting and sculpted brass wires, created for a residential project.

The work emerges from a balance between structure and spontaneity. While the painting process is intuitive and fluid, the brass elements are deliberate and precise. It is within this interplay that the piece finds its equilibrium, holding together two contrasting approaches in a single, cohesive expression.

Bhoomi is my exploration of climate change across ecosystems, expressed through fibre-based and textile sculptural works. The installation brings together ideas of social change, upcycling, and craftsmanship, reflecting both past and present realities.

Through Bhoomi, I reflect on the urgency of the climate crisis, hoping to create a space that feels both visually engaging and gently thought-provoking, inviting awareness without overwhelming the viewer.

Using techniques such as crochet, knitting, weaving, embroidery, felting, and punch needle, we created small sculptural elements that gradually came together to form a larger whole. The collaborative process, shaped by multiple perspectives, became central to the work.

I have always felt a deep affinity towards cows. Their gentle presence and the quiet expressiveness of their eyes has fascinated me. There is a certain calm and tenderness in their gaze that naturally evokes a sense of care and reassurance. When the client expressed a desire to include “Kamadhenu” in their new home as a symbol of prosperity and abundance, it resonated deeply with me.

Nurturing Essence is a textile based artwork that brings together intricate hand embroidery, beadwork, and couching techniques, created as a sculptural wall piece for a residential setting.

With this piece, I wanted to bring a sense of the garden indoors, introducing elements of the natural world into an otherwise structured space. By incorporating these forms within the architecture, I explored the idea of blurring boundaries between habitation and wilderness, where human and non-human lives coexist more closely than we often notice.

Through this process, I found myself in a dialogue with his vision honouring it while responding through my own memories and emotions. Some of these images, though never published, have  felt significant to me.

This series is a deeply personal tribute to my father, T.S. Nagarajan, a photographer and photojournalist whose work continues to shape my creative journey. His sensitivity to light, composition, and fleeting moments has always stayed with me.

After his passing, I began reinterpreting some of his photographs, adding my own layer of texture and material.
